Still warm here in the UK so chilled drinks are order of the day, Sauvignon Blanc makes another appearance and this is a particularly good one if you like a bright and zippy New Zealand Sovee Bee.
Many of you will notice that the last few reviews have all been from Waitrose, now there is a reason and it’s simply that my wife works for them and as a partner she is entitled to 25% discount at the moment , so I got this when on offer and with the extra discount it worked out at quite a saving, so all in all happy days!
Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Impressive looking bottle with typical NZ sovee flavours but with a little more intensity, sums this up. As you can see in the picture above, in the glass it’s very light and clear in colour. Craggy Range themselves say in the words of their chief winemaker “the wine has a level of salivating minerality”. This is by no means subtle, hitting you with bracing citrus fruits, lemons, limes, developing into more tropical peach flavours.
Some trademark grassiness and it’s very zippy, it has all the flavours you would expect from a New Zealand sovee and then some more, lots of layers and complexity. My wife is a big fan and I use her as a litmus for all Sovee’s and she loved it, which is good enough for me.
Seriously though, this is a classy Sauvignon Blanc, undoubtedly well made and if you’re into Sovee Bee with clout (in a good way) then this may well be the bottle for you, a little pricey but then you would expect to pay a little more for quality.
This was on offer when I bought it, usual price £14.99
