Back to France and the Loire Valley with this very pleasant Sovee from the house and estate of Pascal Jolivet which was founded in 1987, centered around 120 acres of premier vineyards spread across the appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.
You may be wondering with a name like ‘Attitude’, does it have any? well, I would describe it more like ‘Character’ which it definitely has. It’s Organic with minimal intervention and environmentally friendly techniques with a focus on letting nature take its course. So what’s it like …….
Pascal Jolivet Attitude Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Not a very French looking bottle but very much French in style and a decent enough Sovee Bee. Very pale colour almost water like in the glass and on the nose it was hard to distinguish much, mainly orchard fruits with some lime and lemons. The taste is where this young wine shines, serious minerality it has in abundance, it’s bright, crisp and citrusy. Some herbal characteristics come through mid way and the finish is reasonably long.
Paired with fresh trout it was perfect and it would be brilliant with any seafood. Bought this on offer for £9.99 at Waitrose but at full price £12.99 I say it’s still good value for a well made Sovee, a Loire valley treat !
