Whispering Angel 2019

It’s that time of year again when rosé starts to make an appearance and what better way to kick of the pink season than with this wonderful bottle of Whispering Angel. Well, this particular one is actually a half bottle, Apparently ‘Whispering Angel’ is the most popular rosé in America, not sure where I heard that, think I read it somewhere but I can understand why after tasting it on a lovely sunny evening here…

The sun is out, the sky… so are these white wines !

Us Brits are a funny lot, just into April, the sun comes out, the temperature rises a few degrees, suddenly garden furniture comes out , Gazebo’s are erected, barbecues are dusted down and of course chilled white wine makes an appearance. To be honest I did all of the above as well, even put my shorts on. The two white wines I tasted were the Mar de Frades Albarino and the Val de Loire Sauvignon…

An evening tasting ‘Cellier des Dauphins’ wines

On the 13th November 2019 I found myself in a what is described as a ‘rustic convivial’ French style restaurant called Noize set in the Fitzrovia region of London. Courtesy of Jo Thompson owner and director of Belleville Marketing I was invited to a wine tasting evening of one of the most recognisable and distinctive French wine producers ‘Cellier des Dauphins‘ showcasing their range of wines including some fabulous new additions. Uniting thirteen local wine…

Champagne Road Trip 2018

‘Come quickly, I’m tasting stars’ exclaimed the Benedictine Monk Dom Pérignon, when talking about the worlds most celebrated fizzy drink Champagne and to be honest, I don’t think he was far off the mark. If you like Champagne then you really must visit this most northerly of wine regions in France and experience why the French take this drink so seriously and why they are extremely proud of what they produce. It’s not until you…

Stone, Vine & Sun – Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Festival 2018

If you like and want to know more about wine the best way is to try as many as you can and what better way of doing it without breaking the bank is to get yourself along to an organised tasting event as this one. This time, the venue was Browns Brasserie & Bar, in Londons Covent Garden once Westminster’s County Courts which in 1996 was converted into a bar and restaurant, one of the…

Majestic Amersham Spring Showcase 2018

Majestic Amersham were holding a Spring showcase tasting in their plush new store on the 3oth April, so I thought on a cold rainy night, what better way is there to spend a few hours than tasting wine. I arrived a little early partly to have a look around the new shop and I was suitably impressed. Everything was neatly on display with all the portable shelves immaculately adorned with bottles lined up from around…

Les 3 Lys Crozes Hermitage 2011

Rarely happens, especially midweek but when it does, I think, who am I to argue. I’m talking about when you pour yourself a glass of water with dinner and the wife says ‘aren’t we having any wine tonight’. After calmly making my way to our wine rack, didn’t want to seem to keen, I pull out the first readily available bottle that I thought would go with dinner. The bottle in question is a Crozes…

Les Hauts Castelmaure Corbieres 2009

Rummaging through my wines I came across this Corbieres which I must have bought a few years ago and forgotten about so, I thought it’s about time I opened it. Corbieres, not a wine I drink a lot of but when I do I always enjoy it and this bottle was no different. I think I bought it at Majestic maybe six or seven years ago, can’t remember how much it cost, maybe around £8-£9….
